Fully functional body & ideal body shape
Yoga therapy acts on the meridians — the same as in acupuncture (only without the needles). The meridians govern our body’s shape and how well it functions. When we’re unwell or have an unsupportive lifestyle, our meridians don’t work smoothly and get blocked. Some organs don’t work as well as they should and other organs have to work harder to compensate. Our health suffers and our body shape and face reflect these changes.
With yoga therapy we can target specific meridians and their associated organs or body tissues to get them working smoothly and efficiently. This naturally makes the body sleek like a tiger with no saggy, baggy, puffy or couch potatoey bits.
For example, when the Liver meridian is not functioning well, we can get symptoms such as poor digestion and abdominal bloating, constipation, rigid thinking, painful joints, generalised pain in the body, eyesight problems or menstrual problems. The yoga therapy for Liver mostly involves twisting poses because these squeeze the liver organ and stimulate the Liver meridian. A few twisting poses done each day can give remarkable results — you can regain a full range of movement that’s pain-free, become inspired and creative, be flexible in body and mind, and have a clear direction in life.
With yoga therapy, we have the tools to optimise the functioning of all our meridians, organs, and bodily systems — digestive, nervous, immune, reproductive, lymphatic, endocrine, musculoskeletal, respiratory and cardiovascular. Our body shape is a direct result of the functioning, or lack thereof, of each of these systems. So, by improving the body’s functions, we can naturally and systematically change and optimise our body’s shape. Coupled with meditation and mindfulness practices, we have all the powerful tools of yoga (in the greater sense) to become the sleek, powerful, optimally-functioning human beings we were born to be.
